Black skin as the reference - Welcome to Vertuous Beauty
Vertuous Beauty is a more elevated way of looking at Black skin and therefore, at Black beauty.
When I first had the idea to create this House, I didn’t simply want to feel more represented. I wanted to feel seen. Seen at the level of the woman I am.
I didn’t want to have to choose between who I am and the different stereotypes that are often placed on Black women. I wanted to be able to be sophisticated, feminine, bold, creative and elegant, without having to explain why.
So I created a House where Black skin is the reference.
The Black woman comes first, as a standard of beauty not as an afterthought that needs to be included afterwards.
A story in which she is the main character. A story where everything begins with her.
That is, quite simply, Vertuous Beauty.
A beauty House created for Black and mixed-race women, but above all, built around a point of view: one that considers our beauty a reference in its own right.
Our products are created from this idea. The colours, textures, references and stories we choose are too.
And because beauty is never shaped in isolation, Vertuous Beauty draws from African cultures, and particularly from Cameroonian culture, the heritage of its founder.
These influences shape the way we create, the way we see and the way we tell stories.
Through this journal, we will talk about beauty, of course, but also culture, products, archives, references, objects, colours and everything that has shaped us, directly or indirectly.
Because our identity never comes from a single story.
It is made of what we inherited, what we discovered, what we loved and what we chose to make our own.
Welcome to Vertuous Beauty.
Here, Black skin is the reference.
